This beginner crash course will introduce students to the process of creating music on their computer: creating songs as a solo artist or facilitating recording and production of bands.
Eight - week course**
Mondays – October 21 through December 9, 7:00 – 8:00pm
Tuesdays – October 22 through December 10, 7:00 – 8:00pm
STUDENTS WILL LEARN:
Programming a song start to finish using Ableton Live Lite
Basic songwriting and arranging
Basic mixing and mastering techniques to achieve a sonically balanced track
Recording, editing and processing vocals
Recording, editing and processing live instruments including the guitar and piano
Basic sound design and synthesis techniques used to create digital instruments and sonic textures
Basic music theory and sampling techniques to apply in creating Hip-hop beats and electronic music
One copy of Ableton Live Lite or a 30-day trial of Ableton Suite (download instructions provided upon registration)
One pair of over-the-ear or in-ear headphones
$500.00 (includes an exclusive collection of audio samples compiled and curated by your instructor)

*Justin Douville, music producer and DJ based originally out of Boulder, Colorado , has extensive experience creating and
performing electronic music. This includes audio editing, voiceover recording, and sound design for television and film.
**Minimum of 5 students required for class.
